The story.
Lake Effect Winery began making their unique wines in September of 2007. Lake Effect Winery doesn’t
produce your ordinary fruit wines – we produce extraordinary fruit wines. Our wines introduce full fruit
flavors without the intense sweetness often found in fruit juices, and many fruit wines. As a result, our wines
tend to be drier than people usually expect in a fruit wine. But, that’s what makes Lake Effect wines have
such a unique and satisfying taste.

Lake Effect Winery uses all natural fruit and doesn't use any added sulfites in the winemaking process,
including equipment sterilization. However, sulfites are naturally produced in the fermentation process. Yeast
produces sulfites in the form of H2S (Hydrogen Sulfite). While most of the sulfites are vented in the
process, some remain suspended in the wine. So, sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of unique fruit wine.

A message from the winemaker:
Donald Stolarz

After making wines in my home for about 15
years, I decided to mix a little business with
pleasure. I love the social and health aspects
that flourish from a great glass of wine, but I
also believe that a winery lends itself to a great
family business.

So, after much consideration, I opted to turn
my
passion into a reality and share my wines with
others. And I couldn’t be happier with
the end result – an up-and-coming winery that
produces quality wines from premium
Michigan fruits and berries.

There are thousands of wineries worldwide
that make fantastic grape wines and blends.
But, I believe there’s a market for full-bodied
wines made from other fruits, including pear,
apple, elderberry and aronia.

Lake Effect Winery is located on Michigan’s
west coast in Fruitport Township. The new
winemaking facility is housed in a former
industrial building that has undergone a total
renovation.

We hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Donald Stolarz, winemaker and owner
